The series of analog photographs stands as a victorious entry in the Blackbox competition at the 2020 Mikser festival, conceived as a response to the theme of "Monument".

 

Conceived on the Great War Island in Belgrade, the artwork serves as the embodiment of the collective unconsciousness of the locality. The solitary, depersonalized figure draped in red assumes the role of a monument that transcends its typical function as a mere historical artifact, instead offering a probing interrogation into the identity of the site through an emotionally charged interpretation of its history.

 

Designed to elicit a sense of discomfort and unease in its viewers, this monument offers a critical inquiry into the value of recorded historical data in relation to the impact of emotional experiences. Ultimately, it stands as both a signifier and a warning that the negative imprints of the past may be poised to repeat themselves in the future.
