KOPFKINO
Site specific immersive installation
20.10.21 – 31.10.2021
Art Weekend, Belgrade
Kopfkino, a site-specific immersive installation, was meticulously crafted in the derelict Belgrade Hotel as part of the Art Weekend (2021) group exhibition. The installation comprised a multi-faceted approach, beginning with the complete red transformation of the space, inclusive of the floors and ceilings. This provided the foundation to build a meditation room using synthetic materials and an audio-visual installation. The work creates a disquieting atmosphere by contrasting the striking red environment, artificial elements, and a frenzied video with an audio meditation referencing the Garden of Eden. This design aims to stimulate an emotional response within the viewer and draw attention to the collective anxiety resulting from the societal pressure to maintain a swift pace of life. Furthermore, the piece critiques the notion of commodified spirituality as it is currently imposed by the capitalist agenda.
